May 5, 2010 : Frohsin & Barger attorneys are recognized by Super Lawyers. Once again, Henry Frohsin was recognized as a Super Lawyer in the area of white collar criminal defense. Jim Barger and Elliott Walthall were recognized as Rising Stars— a designation reserved for the top two and one-half percent of lawyers in the country. Super Lawyers selects honorees based upon trial verdicts, settlements, reputation, and experience, among other things. Lawyers cannot pay to be included in Super Lawyers but rather are identified by professional achievement and peer-evaluation.
April 23, 2010 : Alabama Supreme Court Orders New Trial For Death Row Inmate James Allen Harrison, Jr. Jim Barger wins pro bono appeal for death row inmate whose trial was plagued by jury misconduct, reports The Birmingham News and the Associated Press. Frohsin & Barger dedicates a significant amount of time to pro bono representation of clients in cases regarding serious issues of injustice.
March 1, 2010 : Henry Frohsin named one of “the city’s top legal minds." Spotlighted as receiving the highest available peer review rating among lawyers in Birmingham, Henry is listed as one of B-Metro’s “Top Lawyers.”

October 8, 2009 : Litigation Counsel of America recognizes Frohsin & Barger’s record hospice fraud qui tam settlement and the firm’s groundbreaking efforts to combat Medicare and Medicaid fraud through the False Claims Act.

September 15, 2009 : Huntsville, Alabama Defense Contractors’s Lawyers Want Prosecutors Held in Contempt for Withholding Evidence. The Birmingham News quotes Henry Frohsin regarding allegations that former U.S. Attorney Alice Martin’s office wrongfully withheld evidence and suborned perjury in a landmark Arms Export Control case against Iranian-American Alex Latifi that ultimately resulted in an acquittal.
September 10, 2009 : Export Control Laws Worry Academics. NATURE magazine quotes Jim Barger about the chilling effect of export control laws on academic research.
September 5, 2009 : The Birmingham News reports former federal prosecutor Ron Brunson’s move to join Frohsin & Barger team.
August 21, 2009 : The Huntsville Times quotes Jim Barger about the firm’s decision to seek en banc review from the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals to uphold the federal District Court’s award of attorneys’ fees to firm clients Alex Laitif and Axion corporation. Latifi, an Iranian-American defense contractor was acquitted last year in a landmark Export Control Act and Aircraft Fraud case tried to verdict by Henry Frohsin and Jim Barger.
August 20, 2009 : Member of Larry Langford’s Prosecution Team Has Resigned. Birmingham News quotes Ron Brunson about the recent departure of the lead Assistant U.S. Attorney in the prosecution of Birmingham’s mayor on public corruption charges. Ron, a former top line prosecutor in the U.S. Attorney’s office joined Frohsin & Barger as of counsel earlier this month.

August 17, 2009 : CIA’s “Black” Helicopters Land in Court. Wired publishes updated report on Frohsin & Barger’s appeal of the wrongful conviction of Russian helicopter expert, Jeffrey Stayton.
August 16, 2009 : The CIA, Siberia, and the $7M Bar Bill. The New York Post chronicles the investigation that led to Frohsin & Barger’s pending appeal for Jeffrey Stayton. Stayton is the preeminent expert on Russian helicopters, and the Post article describes how Stayton’s procurement efforts paved the way for the successful Post-911 invasion of Taliban-controlled Afghanistan.

June 2, 2009 : Frohsin & Barger Wins Four-Year Civil Battle Over Alleged Murder-For-Hire. Two federal judges dismiss two separate civil cases with prejudice in favor of the parents of deceased who was murdered in interstate conspiracy allegedly orchestrated by his wife. Read the full press release.

April 27, 2009 : Frohsin & Barger case inspires fiction. Former CIA agent and popular novelist Barry Eisler drew upon the much publicized Frohsin & Barger case, United States v. Latifi, for inspiration of his new thriller, Fault Line. Eisler tells Harper’s journalist Scott Horton that the case is not only mentioned in Fault Line, but that it also provided inspiration for the theme and at least one of the book’s characters.
