The IRS 2009 Fiscal Year Results show a precipitous decline over the last two years in enforcement collections at a time when fraud against the government is on the rise in nearly every sector. Such statistics serve as reliable indicators that the IRS will redouble enforcement efforts and also rely more heavily upon whistleblowers. People who know about major tax fraud (more than $2 million, including fines and interest) may now recieve as much as 30% of the collection under the most recent legislation. The IRS tends to be inherently suspicious — of both targets and whistleblowers.
